Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko

Gennady Golovkin returned to the ring to get a world championship belt, at Madison Sqauare Garden, New York, United States (US).

This time his opponent was Sergiy Derevyanchenko, a brutal boxer from Ukraine.

Derevyanchenko can’t wait to face Golovkin who is superior in the Middleweight division. Compared to GGG’s career, Derevyanchenko started in amateurs. Derevyanchenko was teammates Vasiliy Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk in competition at the Olympics.

In a pro career, the boxer nicknamed the technician lost once in 14 battles. The only defeat suffered by Derevyanchenko is Daniel Jacobs.

“We have great strength, and it will be very difficult for (GGG) to overcome,” said Andre Rozier, coach of Derevyanchenko.

Golovkin vs Derevyanchenko will fight for the vacant IBF Middleweight title. Golovkin and Darevyanchenko opened a public and media training session on Tuesday 1, October.

During the training session, Golovkin who appeared later appeared to be in good health despite being 37 years old.

Golovkin was accompanied by US coach Jonathon Bank, who trained the last battle against Steve Rolls. Bank entered Team Golovkin to replace Abel Sanchez, who was fired after Golovkin defeated Saul Canelo Alvarez.

Gennady Golovkin now has a 39-1-1 record (35 knockouts), while Sergiy Derevyanchenko brings the fight, a 33 year old record of 13-1-0 (10 knockouts).
